If you have ever spilled ink or toner, then you know that the clean-up associated with that is a hassle. If you happen to have a poorly constructed LaserJet 3600 toner cartridge and it spills toner all over your skin and clothes, then you have a tough battle ahead. If this ever occurs, then you will be in a difficult situation. Any hot or warm water will soften the toner. This causes it to bond in place. If toner is on your clothes, then you probably will not be able to remove it. If the toner is stuck to your skin, then it will disappear over time, but it will be present for many days. If you so desired, you could use an abrasive hand cleaner to remove the skin stained with toner.

Toner particles have certain properties that cause it to stick to skin. These electrostatic properties are designed to develop static charges whenever toner is rubbed against other objects, particles, or interiors of certain items. For example, if you try to vacuum any spilled toner, then you could inadvertently cause an explosion. Any static discharge from the charged toner particles can ignite the dust in a vacuum cleaner bag and create a small explosion. Obviously, this could damage your vacuum cleaner, injure you, or start a fire. Because toner has been reduced to eight micrometers in size, a typical vacuum filter will not catch the particles. This allows for ignition to be possible.

If any toner spilled into your laser printer, then you may need a special HEPA or high efficiency filter on a special vacuum with an electrically conductive hose. These are called electrostatic discharge safe vacuums. Luckily, any unfused toner can be cleaned easily using a cloth. Toner is a plastic or wax powder with a low melting temperature, so it must be kept cold during cleaning. If you wish to try and remove toner from clothing, you can try to wash the clothing on a cold cycle. Wash the clothing twice using cold water for the best rate of success. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the clothing can be salvaged.

Spilling toner could be an extremely hectic situation, so it is advantageous for you to keep your Xerox 6130 toner in one piece so you will not have to deal with any toner spills. If toner spills in your printer, then it could cost hundreds of dollars to replace your printer or simply to pay for the repair costs. If you were to purchase an inkjet printer, then you would not have these issues with an ink cartridge. These cartridges contain a small amount of ink that is soaked into a sponge. Any ink leaking or spill can easily be cleaned with a napkin or cloth. If ink gets on your clothing or hands, the there will be a difficult cleaning process as well. Luckily, spills with ink are easier to manage because the cartridges are significantly smaller. These cartridges can be removed with one hand and disposed of easily. A toner cartridge requires two hands and at any moment toner can be released.

Despite these increased risks, laser printers are significantly more popular than Laserjet printers. This is primarily due to failure rates of toner cartridges. Less than one percent of all toner cartridges will be defective. Of this one percent, toner spills do not occur often. As you can see, this is a great statistic. With such a low failure rate, consumers do not have to worry about toner spills. Ink cartridges may offer lower risk when removing a defective cartridge, but toner cartridges fail at a lower rate.
