I thought I would list this fix here in case it would help anyone else. I don’t know about you, but I have had to go in and delete this registry key several times over the past year. Maybe every time they do an update it makes this happen. I sure wish that I knew.

This solution has been tested and works for MS Word 2007 running on a Windows Vista Business Platform.

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES

with that said go to the Search on your menu and type: regedit

Then locate the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

right click and rename the file to dataOLD then close the registry, and restart MS word. The mouse should work just fine now.

By renaming the file it will still be there in case you have an issue. You can always just go back in and change remove the “OLD” and the file will be back in it’s original form

Hope this helps. It’s funny how much we come to depend upon things to work when we need it to. Never realized how much I right click until it’s gone!
